Nightingales took part in some Mediterranean food tasting... Olives mixed feelings. Some thoughtful pecking, some dramatic side-eyes. Italian pastries absolute hit. Gone in seconds. No notes. Tzatziki rejected immediately. Not even a courtesy sniff. Pitta cautiously approved after extensive investigation. Overall rating: "more pastries please."

A big thank you to @sallydohertywrites for kindly sharing copies of her books with us. On Friday, as a school, we also had the opportunity to learn more about ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis) and the impact it can have on daily life. We're very grateful for Sally's openness in helping us deepen our understanding and for taking the time to support our learning in such a generous way. The books will be a valued part of our library and a reminder of the importance of awareness, empathy, and inclusion. Thank you again, Sally

On Friday, our school community came together in a truly meaningful way as the children arrived wearing a touch of blue to show their support for ME Awareness. This simple gesture helped raise awareness of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, a long-term condition that can have a significant impact on daily life. It was wonderful to see such thoughtful participation from pupils, who took the time to learn why awareness matters and how small actions can help make a difference. A big thank you to all the children (and families) for getting involved and showing kindness and understanding. #MEAwareness

Our School Values

"A good school provides a rounded education for the whole person. And a good Catholic school, over and above this, should help all its students to become saints." (Pope Benedict XVI, 2010)

As a Catholic school, we value and respect every person as an individual, always remembering our school mission that “we see Jesus in everything we do.”

The curriculum we offer to all of our pupils is broad, balanced, and firmly rooted in the Gospel values. In addition, the school promotes the British values of democracy, liberty, tolerance, and mutual respect through the school curriculum.

Our curriculum is enriched by a diversity of learning experiences that aim to develop pupils’ creativity and independence, so that they can become learners for life.

The school has high expectations of behaviour and attitudes. The hard-working staff at the school strive to ensure that each child is appropriately challenged and excited to learn, so that they can achieve well and develop as well-rounded individuals.

St Edward's First recognises the importance of fostering a healthy home-school partnership. We understand that as parents, you know your child better than anyone and so we actively encourage regular communication and contact between home and school through parent meetings, consultation evenings, and curriculum information workshops.

The school enjoys the support of a committed and supportive Board of Governors and a very active and enthusiastic Friends of St Edward's First association. This, together with the well–established parish links that the school maintains with St Edward's Church, ensures a strong partnership between school, home,e and parish where our children can flourish and grow in Christ.
