PE and Sport Premium

Please read the information below, which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

St. Edward's First recognises the benefits of a strong Physical Education (PE) Curriculum and extra-curricular activity on developing a healthy body, improving academic performance, improving social skill, and raising self-esteem. At least two hours of sessions per week are dedicated to physical activity in the curriculum. The high profile of PE at St. Edward's First is reflected in the children’s attendance at the extended school sports clubs as well as the achievement of the children at organised inter-school competitions.

All our pupils receive quality PE provision through the purchase of Creative's Jasmine online platform (REAL PE). This platform has allowed our teachers to deliver a unique, child-centered, and holistic PE approach based on non-traditional sports. Furthermore, through this platform, we can guarantee each child is experiencing PE, which challenges and supports all.

Possible uses of the funding include:

  • Hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work alongside primary teachers when teaching PE
  • New or additional Change4Life sport clubs
  • Paying for professional development opportunities in PE/sport
  • Providing cover to release primary teachers for professional development in PE/sport
  • Running sports competitions, or increasing participation in school games
  • Buying quality-assured professional development modules or materials for PE/sport
  • Providing places for pupils in after-school sport clubs and residential visits
